Partial reprogramming
& aging research.

Boris Djordjevic is the founder and CEO of 199 Biotechnologies, a biotechnology company advancing partial reprogramming and the development of gene therapies. His work connects company building with published research in longevity, cancer mechanics and the biology of tissues.

Research direction

Partial cellular reprogramming studies how a limited intervention can restore features of a younger cell state while preserving specialised function. At 199 Biotechnologies, that work sits within a broader aim: bringing reprogramming and gene therapies toward human application and making them accessible to more people.

The company’s next programmes are being developed in stealth. Its guide to partial reprogramming explains the published human-cell and animal evidence, the importance of cellular identity, and the questions of delivery and measurement.

Published research

Boris is a co-author of Longevity biotechnology: bridging AI, biomarkers, geroscience and clinical applications for healthy longevity, published in Aging in 2024. The review brings together research across the aging field, including artificial intelligence and clinical translation.

His other co-authored work includes Tunable hydrogel-based micropillar arrays for myelination studies in Nature Methods (2026) and Emergent mechanical control of vascular morphogenesis in Science Advances (2023). These papers examine the physical environment of cells and tissues.

Talks and interviews

The ARDD 2024 programme lists Boris as a session moderator and as the speaker for “Translating to clinics” on 29 August 2024 at the University of Copenhagen.

In a 2024 interview with Longevity.Technology, he discussed 199 Biotechnologies’ approach to cellular reprogramming and the path from laboratory work to therapies.
